ChromoGenics participates in Horizon 2020 Switch2Save project
The Switch2save project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 869929. The total grant amount is 5 468 KEUR and out of this 1 035 KEUR will go to ChromoGenics.
The aim of the Switch2Save project is to combine the most advanced electrochromic materials and thermochromic materials to manufacture lightweight, hybrid-enabled switchable optical systems. Another aim is to demonstrate long service life, energy saving potential and cost affordability both in installation and maintenance. The output will be smart insulated glass units with improved optical properties and reduced production costs. Large installations in an office building in Uppsala and a hospital in Athens will also be carried out within the project.
“The consortium behind Switch2Save consists partly of actors such as architects, facade contractors and property managers and also end users. In addition, several of Europe’s leading research institutes in electrochromism are included and we are really looking forward to developing the next generation of dynamic glass using both electrochromic and thermochromic technology” says CTO Greger Gregard.
